With the first chunk of World Cup races on the books, it would be easy for riders to take a break before the next run of events: Mt. Ste. Anne, Bromont, Crankworx, etc. e.thirteen athletes, however, are definitely not relaxing between World Cups. On the contrary, they are out on the mountains, practicing hard and finding more podiums on which to stand. This past weekend, the e.thirteen men dominated the downhill of the US National Championships, taking seven of the top ten spots. Morewood's Geritt Beytagh took first, followed by Cody Warren, Duncan Riffle, and Curtis Keene. After his winning run, Beytagh said, "For the race run I let go of the brakes and tried to be loose in the wide open sections to conserve my energy so I could keep focus in the tight, root filled woods sections. I knew it was going to be tough to stay on line, I just had to stay relaxed. The Morewood Izimu DH bike that I ride is one of the lightest production frames available and the LG1 is the perfect complement to my bike, it's light, strong, and has never let me down." The Semi Pro and Junior Expert downhill men did not disappoint either. Sam "Gellin" Mellen and Neko Mulally took wins in their respective categories. In dual slalom, Mongoose's Eric Carter took home his fourteenth US Championship jersey, followed by men's DH winner Geritt Beytagh, a t-shirt and jeans–clad Chris Van Dine, and Yeti's Ross Milan. The women racers at Mt. Snow also made their fair share of podium appearances. Marla Streb was only three seconds back from the women's DH winner Melissa Buhl, with Dawn Borque taking third place behind Melisssa and Marla. Kathy Pruitt and Darian Harvey snapped up second and third in the dual slalom event, rounding out a healthy take of medals for the e.thirteen riders at Mt. Snow. Yeti Cycles's Justin Leov took the NORBA podium in Deer Valley with a win in downhill, joined by fellow e.thirteen athlete Joanna Petterson for the women's DH win. Maxxis rider Cameron Cole took the win in dual slalom as well, adding a third gold medal for the weekend to e.thirteen's vast collection of wins from the 2008 season thus far. Red Bull Psychosis ran for the final year as one of the most grueling tracks in Canadian history, and e.thirteen athletes were on hand to capture the final title. Newly engaged couple Chris Kovarik and Claire Buchar took the men's and women's wins, respectively. The European championship podium was filled with e.thirteen riders, with Subaru/Mondraker teammates Florent Payet and Damien Spagnolo in first and second place. Winning continued at the Canadian championship, where the LG1 with direct mount bashguard was the guide of choice for the entire men's podium, with Cove's Andrew Mitchell in first, followed by Justin Brown (Intersport/DHRacer.com) and Charles Alexandre Dube (Intersport/DHRacer.com). To support the world's fastest racers, the e.thirteen truck heads to both Mt. Ste. Anne and Bromont after a successful showing at Mt. Snow this past weekend. e.thirteen is the only chain retention company to have a professionally manned pit area at all three events.
